What is Spirit? Has there ever been a question to make us ponder more? How does one define what it is to be spiritual? To me, Spirit is our connection to the Divine, to our deepest inner selves, or to God. It is within us and around us at all times. Whatever your beliefs may be, whether you are devoutly faithful, religious, or have no beliefs at all on the subject, our spiritual health is key to complete wellness, and to fully creating our lives as we desire them to be.
It is ultimately our connection to Spirit – our spiritual health – that allows us to be healthy – both in the body and the mind. When the connection is blocked, that’s when we begin to experience stress, and our physical health begins to weaken and deteriorate. How? Our connection to Spirit keeps us resilient to everything going on outside ourselves – those things we cannot control. It keeps us focused on higher frequencies of love, joy, forgiveness, and gratitude. We become so strong and powerful within ourselves, that we can literally withstand everything going around us.
When the connection to Spirit is energetically blocked, toxic thoughts begin. Fears can take over. Our bodies begin to weaken. We lose our resiliency. We block our innate power. We become vulnerable to toxins, both in their environmental form as well as in their thought forms. Relationships become strained; it becomes harder to attract money; we get sick with degenerative diseases, and the fear loops itself in for the ride of our lives. It’s been said that the root of all disease is stress, and that toxicity also plays a big part in disease. But what is really the root of all disease is blockage of our connection to Spirit, for it makes us vulnerable to stress and toxicity. Only by clearing our blockages and consciously, intentionally spending time in our connection to Spirit – to the Divine – do we make ourselves strong, resilient, and healthy in our minds and bodies.
What Is The Divine?
There exists what scientists have come to call “The Field.” Also known to us as “the quantum field,” “zero point energy,” “chi,” – this is the field of energy that permeates and makes up all things in this Universe, including us. There is an undeniable intelligence contained in this energy that makes all things possible, including life itself. Our thoughts are part of this field, as are our hopes, dreams, prayers, desires, the air we breathe, the magnetic forces of the Earth, the Space beyond us, the entire Universe, and ultimately, every energetic frequency ever to exist. The frequencies that are the highest are love, joy, gratitude, appreciation, and enlightenment. But that is as far as we can go in this physical existence. There exists something even more Divine – beyond our comprehension. This is Spirit. And Spirit is beyond energy, beyond frequencies – and the closest we come in this life to exactly what it is, is in the frequencies of unconditional love, forgiveness, joy, gratitude, appreciation, and enlightenment.
Through the frequency of Unconditional Love, we connect deeply within ourselves to find The Divine. Whether you believe in God, Jesus, Allah, Jehovah, The Creator, Yourself, Yahweh, The God and Goddess, The Universe, The Holy Spirit, The Great Trinity, Prana, Chi – whatever or whomever it is you believe in, we connect to The Divine – to Spirit – through the frequency of Unconditional Love. It is through this frequency that all things are possible.
To be spiritual is to recognize and honor this supreme connection between ourselves and all things, and to the Creator. It doesn’t matter who or what you believe the Creator to be, or even if you don’t believe in the Creator at all – the fact that the connection exists between ourselves and Spirit is no longer deniable. Spirit exists within each and every one of us, as part of our greater unconscious mind, and in all things.
How Do You Connect to Spirit?
In Truth, you are always connected with Spirit. There is no possibility of ever being disconnected. However, energy blockages can cause us to feel disconnected from Spirit. So how do we maintain that feeling of connection with Spirit that we so desire? The key is in experiencing each moment in the higher vibrational frequencies, which happens easily after you integrate trapped “negative” emotions and subconscious programs that act as blockages to our spiritual connection. When you are in the frequency of Unconditional Love, you are feeling your Spirit connection. When you are joyful, you are feeling your Spirit connection. When you are at peace, when you are grateful, you are feeling Spirit. The Bible even defines these frequencies as “the fruit of the Spirit,” as found in the book of Galatians, chapter 5, verses 22 and 23. Regardless of whether or not you believe in the Bible or any other holy writings, there is no denying that these are the frequencies in which we truly feel our Spirit connection, as well as all its rewards.
By monitoring how we feel in any given moment, we can step out of whatever thought cycle we are in and pay attention to our mind chatter. What are our thoughts saying when we’re not paying attention to them? Are they full of worry over what might happen? Are they full of regret over something past? Our goal is to feel good and be happy in the moment. So paying attention to our feelings is very important to the process of monitoring our thoughts.
Once a thought is repeated enough, it becomes a thought form – a program – that our subconscious has chosen to accept as true. This is why it’s so important to monitor what we are saying to ourselves as often as we can. It is our subconscious mind that commands our unconscious mind to manifest the “reality” in which we live.
It is the subconscious mind that attracts – or reflects back to us – more of what it is thinking about. A subconscious mind that lives in fear will reflect back more to fear or worry about; a subconscious mind that lives in joy, love, and gratitude will reflect back more to be happy about. Fortunately, thought forms – subconscious beliefs, or programs – can be reprogrammed by using ThetaHealing® or the Energetic Mastery Mindset Coaching Program. While it’s absolutely crucial to focus on your spiritual connection and nurture your conscious thoughts, subconscious reprogramming greatly speeds up the results you desire in changing your life. I encourage you to contact me or read my book The Space Between if you would like to learn more about how this works.
Meditation is an extremely effective way to interrupt the mind chatter and allows us to silence our thoughts so that we can step into the moment and clear our connection to Spirit. There is no single method I know of or can recommend more highly than to take some time out of each day to create a safe and quiet space to meditate. It’s one of the greatest gifts that you can ever give yourself.
Engage in activities that are joyful for you, as feeling joy bypasses the ego-mind’s programs and puts you directly in touch with Spirit. Spend time with your pets as a portal into the frequency of Unconditional Love. Hold a newborn child. Play with your children. Pray with gratitude and love for all you have and faith that you have already been provided with what it is you ask for. Go for a walk in nature and appreciate the beauty of this Earth, the flowers, the sunshine, the creatures that share this planet with us. Go to a beach and take in the experience of the breeze and the sound of the ocean. Step out of your fears and worries and into a state of gratitude for the experience of living here on Earth as a human being. Take a shower and enjoy the gift of your skin sensation, how good it feels to have warm water bathe you. Embrace your loved ones, and appreciate the gift of their presence in your life, in whatever role they play. Exercise, and feel the beauty of movement, the joy of air filling your lungs. Enjoy and appreciate how delicious food tastes and feels as it nourishes your body. The ways to step out of fear vibration and into joy, love, and gratitude are literally infinite.
Be blessed, and always know you are very special, very precious, and that you are completely pure and innocent. You are completely safe and worthy, and deserving of so much more than even your greatest heart’s desires. You are completely guiltless. You are completely forgiven, as there isn’t really anything to forgive. And you are completely loved, without condition, and blessed beyond what you can know.
